Your Minnesota Statewide Independent Living Council (MN SILC) provides: Statewide planning and policies necessary to provide Independent Living Services.
MN SILC Vision Statement: By the year 2020 Minnesota will be providing a comprehensive range of independent living services which empowers persons with disabilities to live as independently as possible.
MN SILC Mission Statement: The Minnesota SILC shall advance the philosophy of Independent Living, maximizing the choices, leadership, empowerment, independence and productivity of persons with disabilities, and promote the integration and full inclusion of persons with disabilities into American society.
The council is made up of consumers and professionals appointed by the Governor. The council members work jointly with State Services for the Blind and Vocational Rehabilitation Services, both of which are branches of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, and the Minnesota Association of Centers for Independent Living (MACIL).
