Your Minnesota Statewide Independent Living Council (MN SILC) provides: Statewide planning and policies necessary to provide Independent Living Services.

The SILC of Minnesota hold: The philosophy of Independent Living is consumer control, peer support, self-help, self determination, equal access, and individual and system advocacy, in order to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence, and productivity of individuals with disabilities, and the integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities into the mainstream of American society.

Who makes up the Council?

The council is made up of consumers and professionals appointed by the Governor. The council members work jointly with State Services for the Blind and Rehabilitation Services, both of which are branches of the Minnesota Dept of Employment and Economic Development.
